When the problematic veins are not accessible with the EVLT or sclerotherapy, Dr. Moskowitz may perform a micro-phlebectomy. The process involves injecting local anesthesia around the varicosities and through a tiny incision, extracting the diseased vein. Compression will be applied and the patients will be able to return to normal activities immediately. This is a minimally invasive method of treating small varicose veins. The tiny incisions do not usually require sutures and leave minimal to no scarring. Patients will be required to wear compression hose for two weeks until the incisions heal.
